26 January 2021

Deputy Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Aswanto received a medal for the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Constitution on Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Constitutional Court. The medal was presented by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Kazakhstan Kairat Malayev for the good relations between the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia and the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“The medal signals the highest recognition from the President of Kazakhstan for the commemorative celebration of the 25th anniversary of the national referendum of the Republic of Kazakhstan to support the good relations between the MKRI and the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” Malayev said.

At the meeting, Malayev expressed his continuous support for the relations between Kazakhstan and Indonesia, two economically strong countries in Central and Southeast Asia. He also expressed sorrow on the natural disaster that have occurred in Indonesia lately.

In addition, he invited the MKRI to an event organized by the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan on August 2021. He hoped the COVID-19 pandemic has ended by then, which would allow delegation from the MKRI to attend in person.

Justice Aswanto responded to the Kazakh delegate positively and thanked for the medal as well as the cooperation and hospitality that Kazakhstan offered during an event by the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) on August 2020. “We’d like to thank the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan for their support. [God willing], the MKRI will come to Kazakhstan [in person] in August if the COVID-19 pandemic has ended,” he added.
