The Secretariat for Research and Development of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC SRD) held the 3rd Research Conference under the theme "The Right to life" online for two days on June 15-16, 2022. Researchers from the constitutional courts and equivalent institutions in Indonesia, Azerbaijan, South Korea, Maldives, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Thailand, Myanmar, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Russia, the Philippines, and India participated in the conference.

At the opening session, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea Yoo Nam-seok said in his speech, "When the world is experiencing the COVID-19 crisis, in-depth discussions about the duty of the state to protect life become very important." He expressed hope that the conference would be an effective means of sharing experiences and knowledge between Asian countries on the implementation of the guarantee of the right to life through the constitution and the Constitutional Court as well as the state's duty to protect life.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General Park Jong-moon of the Constitutional Court of Korea as the secretary-general of the AACC SRD said in his opening remarks, “The theme of the 3rd International Conference on Research Officers was chosen as one of the most important constitutional rights and I hope this forum will create very useful discussions.”

The 2-day online international conference was organized by the Republic of Korea. It reflected the AACC members’ commitment to improving research on constitutional law. Every member sent two delegates to present their papers and discuss topics that had been determined in each panel.
