MKRI Attends Opening of Legal Year 2023 of Federal Court of Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA — The delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (MKRI), led by Chief Justice Anwar Usman, attended the opening of the Legal Year 2023 at the invitation of the Federal Court of Malaysia on Monday, January 9, 2023 at Putrajaya International Convention Centre, Putrajaya, Malaysia. Law enforcement officials within the judiciary of Malaysia—the Subordinate Courts, High Courts, Court of Appeal, and the highest Federal Court.

 

Chief Justice Anwar Usman met briefly with Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who said that the Federal Court of Malaysia has also been participating in global forums alongside the MKRI in the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC), the World Conference on Constitutional Justice (WCCJ), and the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdiction of The Islamic World (CCJ-I).

 

She expressed her belief that no judge is conservative or liberal. “All judges have their own way of adjudicating cases according to their background. Thus, their approach is not something to worry about,” she said. Chief Justice Anwar Usman supported her view and emphasized that the judges’ independence in deciding cases is important.
